The successful candidate will plan and teach four sections of English, collaborate with the English Department to support student learning, advance students’ critical reading, thinking, and writing skills, and guide inquiry of diverse literary artifacts. The teacher will work to integrate the attributes, skills, and knowledge in the Portrait of a Needham Graduate, emphasizing preparation of students to become socially and culturally responsive contributors.

• A Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience teaching or working with high‑school students
• Awareness of and responsiveness to diverse student needs
• Collaborative work ethic and experience with instructional technology
• Commitment to inclusive pedagogy and potential to contribute to student life beyond the classroom

Compensation for substitutes is based on the duration of coverage: $22.40/hr – $26.46/hr (SY6 Rates).
