Work Period/Location July 2026 to December 2026. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position with 5 days per week onsite in Needham, MA. There is no relocation or housing assistance for this position.

RoleThis role: Mechanical Systems Engineering Co-op, gain hands-on experience across the full mechanical product lifecycle, including system architecture, component design, prototyping, testing, and validation. You will work on complex mechanical systems that integrate structures, mechanisms, materials, and thermal considerations to deliver robust, high-performance products.
Responsibilities- Contribute to the concept development of Shark Ninja products by generating, evaluating, and prototyping mechanical system concepts and architectures
- Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers, as well as industrial designers and product managers, to develop integrated system solutions
- Build, test, and iterate mechanical prototypes, subsystems, and lab rigs to evaluate performance, durability, and reliability
- Analyze test data to identify trends, uncover root causes, and inform design improvements at the system and component level
- Participate in technical design reviews and failure analysis discussions, contributing structured problem-solving and data-backed recommendations
- Take ownership of defined mechanical engineering tasks with increasing complexity, gaining exposure to mechanisms, materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes
- Support design feasibility studies, CAD modeling, system layouts, and technical documentation in partnership with experienced mechanical engineers
- Develop a systems-level understanding of how components interact within the full product, balancing performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability
- Apply iterative engineering principles, learning from test results and design failures to refine mechanical systems efficiently and effectively
- Education:
Current student in a related bachelor’s or master’s program, or has graduated from such a program within the past year - Must be able to work a full-time, 40-hour-per-week schedule with 5 days per week onsite in Needham, MA
- Strong foundation in mechanical engineering and physics fundamentals, including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and mechanical design
- Experience using CAD software such as Solid Works and/or Creo for component and system-level design
- Hands-on experience building and modifying prototypes in plastic and metal using basic machine shop tools
- Demonstrated analytical skills, attention to detail, and ownership mindset to identify potential issues and drive solutions through verification
- Intellectual curiosity and first-principles thinking, with the ability to develop robust, practical solutions to complex mechanical design challenges
- Willingness to engage directly in hands-on development, assembly, and testing activities
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Passion for mechanical product design, system functionality, and performance
- Exposure to rapid prototyping methods such as 3D printing and laser cutting
