About the RoleEngineering Manager, NPD — Coffee & Beverage
Responsibilities- Lead a US-based team of two engineers, setting technical direction, coaching, and managing prioritization.
- Take ownership of KPI‑critical subsystem designs from conception through CAD execution, prototyping, and verification.
- Drive subsystem performance against category KPIs using quantitative test and DOE methods.
- Continuously improve designs for cost efficiency, manufacturing, quality, and consumer value.
- Build and test prototypes to de‑risk concepts, validate assumptions, and run DOEs.
- Represent the global team in program reviews and report on deliverables.
- Collaborate with UK‑based program engineering and US product management, industrial design, and technical teams.
- Coordinate with China‑based manufacturing and engineering partners for design‑for‑manufacture and production scale‑up.
- Serve as technical voice in executive‑level reviews, portfolio planning, and cross‑category forums.
- Synthesize technical status, risk, and learning into clear communications for executives.
- Lead post‑mortem and lessons‑learned activities across the category.
- Contribute to category‑level technology roadmaps and long‑range capability planning.
- Degree‑level technical qualification, ideally in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or Industrial Design Engineering.
- 6+ years of experience in Mechanical / Product Design / Industrial Design, including a full concept‑to‑production cycle.
- 2+ years of people management experience with coaching and accountability.
- Experience presenting to senior/executive leadership.
- Expertise translating consumer KPIs into measurable design parameters and test protocols, including DOE planning.
- Experience with plastic manufacturing processes and high‑volume consumer goods environments.
- Proficiency in Solid Works or Creo and leading CAD reviews.
- Clear communication to non‑technical audiences in writing, presentations, and Q&A.
- Experience in distributed engineering environments (US, UK, China).
- Flexible, collaborative, proactive problem‑solving mindset.
- Experience with consumer household appliances, particularly coffee, espresso, or hot‑beverage products.
- Familiarity with beverage appliance components.
- Appreciation for electrical engineering, software, and UX design.
- Experience presenting to executive stakeholders and synthesizing technical content across multiple programs.

Salary and BenefitsAnnual salary range: $97,000—$165,000 USD.
