W&D’s dedicated Affordable experts are committed to addressing the affordable housing crisis in the U.S. and is comprised of capital advisory, investment sales (dedicated to Affordable), debt financing, LIHTC equity, and preservation.
** The Impact You Will Have
** The Analyst, Specialty Credit reports to the Vice President, Affordable Credit and serves as an entry-level member of the Affordable Housing Operations team. This role provides key support to both the Vice President and the Associate, Specialty Credit, while collaborating with a highly skilled group of Affordable Housing professionals. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytically driven, and eager to strengthen both quantitative and qualitative skills.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure across multiple facets of affordable housing, including operations, debt underwriting, debt production, and investment sales.
** Primary Responsibilities
*** Model multifamily projects and associated debt sizing for bridge, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and HUD executions using proprietary Walker & Dunlop and Freddie Mac underwriting models.
* Input income and expense statements to determine maximum loan amounts.
* Conduct preliminary reviews of market areas, property and site characteristics.
* Perform initial assessments of borrower and management qualifications.
* Learn and apply methodologies for building detailed pro forma income and expense statements.
* Assist with valuation analyses and help identify optimal debt execution strategies for acquisition, refinance, and LIHTC re-syndication opportunities.
* Support the evaluation of affordable development transactions through market analysis and financial modeling.
* Track and maintain the pipeline of affordable development projects.
* Support the Affordable Production and Underwriting teams with transactions from initial forward commitment through conversion to permanent loans.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
* Attendance is generally required from 8:30 am – 5:30 pm local time, Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
** Education and Experience
*** Bachelor’s degree required;
Business, Finance, or a related field preferred.

*** Demonstrated understanding of the history and function of Fannie Mae, Fannie Mae DUS, and DUS Lenders.
* Willingness and ability to travel overnight up to 25%.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative relationships with team members, consultants, lenders, investors, and developers.
* Strong ability to manage multiple tasks accurately and efficiently under time-sensitive conditions.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Adobe Acrobat; ability to learn Salesforce and other company software as needed.
* Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues effectively.
