PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSISTANT PER DIEM

For over 40 years, North Hill, a not-for-profit senior living community located in Needham, Massachusetts, has provided vibrant living opportunities to people 65+ by offering a host of hospitality, wellness and health care services. The Physical Therapist is responsible for providing evaluation and treatment to patients, functioning as a member of the interdisciplinary team, providing patient and family education and counseling regarding concerns, planning, implementing and modifying treatment procedures, maintaining appropriate documentation.

Position

Summary

The Physical Therapy Assistant provides hands‑on rehabilitative care in a Skilled Nursing Facility, helping Residents rebuild strength, mobility, and independence. Working under a licensed Physical Therapist, this role brings treatment plans to life while building meaningful connections with Residents, families, and the care team.

Job

Specific Duties
  • Demonstrates consistent knowledge and application of Medicare and other reimbursement regulations
  • Follows through with treatment plans for functional, goal-based outcomes and ensures approval for services from referring physician
  • Treats Residents according to treatment plan
  • Records clinical documentation according to regulatory and professional guidelines
  • Records daily treatment charges per approved billing guidelines
  • Instructs families and nursing staff regarding restorative/home programs
  • Communicates with supervisor and other clinical team members regarding Residents care needs, progress, and plans
  • Provides coverage cross‑campus as needed
  • Recognizes and reports all allegations of Resident abuse, neglect, exploitation, social media exposure, and/or misappropriation of Resident property immediately
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, Residents care conferences, utilization review meetings, and other meetings as required or directed
  • Coordinates with members of other departments, attending physicians, committee members, and other staff within the Rehab department
  • Assists with cleaning and maintenance of treatment areas and department
  • Secures necessary durable medical equipment and adaptive equipment for Residents
  • Reports any problems with department equipment to appropriate personnel
  • Meets department uniform, appearance, and grooming requirements
  • Complies with all OSHA safety regulations, local applicable laws regarding health, safety or environment
Supervisory Responsibilities

Rehab students when applicable

Required

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and strong customer support and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with Team Members, Residents, family members, visitors, and the general public
  • Work professionally with people from a wide variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Complies with protection of health information (HIPAA) safeguards
  • When working in Resident areas, must be able to communicate effectively in English
  • Attends and participates in in-service educational classes, memory care training, Healthcare Academy and staff meetings as directed
Education and Experience
  • Must have a license in Physical Therapy Assistant for the state of Massachusetts
  • Current CPR and AED certification required
  • Proficient with computer software programs and EMR
Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk and hear. The Team Member frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of North Hill
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds

Satisfactory completion of a background investigation is required for this position.
