Position Overview

Recreation Group Leaders support multiple individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (/DD) in site-based and/or community-based settings.

Primary Duties
  • Integrate individuals into the community and actively participate in community-based activities.
  • Provide adequate supervision for all individuals at all times while in the community.
  • Support individuals with:
    • Behavior management
    • Personal development
    • Social skills
    • Communication
    • Physical development
    • Activities of daily living
  • Create opportunities for recreational and enrichment activities such as:
    • Games
    • Sports
    • Arts and crafts
    • Swimming
    • Exercise
    • Music
  • Provide personal care as needed, including:
    • Assistance with meals
    • Toileting support
    • Feeding assistance
  • Organize and facilitate groups of up to at least five individuals.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least two years of direct experience working with adults with /DD.
  • Successful completion and maintenance of the following trainings:
    • CPR and First Aid
    • Human Rights
    • Universal Precautions
    • Mandated Reporting
    • DPPC (Disabled Persons Protection Commission)
    • Fire Safety
    • Vehicle Safety
  • Working knowledge of behavior modification techniques.
  • Willingness to authorize a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) background check.
  • Willingness to release information regarding any allegations or investigations from the following agencies:
    • DPPC
    • Department of Developmental Services (DDS)
    • Other applicable agencies
