Histotechnologist
Under the direction of a pathologist or a qualified medical professional, prepares human tissue and bodily fluid specimens by treating the specimens with chemicals, slicing and mounting on glass slides for microscopic examination and analysis by the pathologist. Preparation process may include sectioning, reagent and other treatment, slide placement, and dying. Places specimens using fixation, dehydration, clearing and/or impregnation by embedding, in a suitable media.
Uses judgment to adapt for tissue types, uses chemicals and dyes to stain sections to demonstrate various pathological conditions.
Minimum Requirements:
- Certification as a Histotechnologist required
- One year of experience in histopathology strongly preferred
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
