Director, Merchandising
Shark Ninja is building a new merchandising capability and is seeking a Director, Merchandising to own the design‑led merchandising strategy across the Shark and Ninja portfolio. This role sits within the Marketing organization and partners directly with our Design Labs team to shape what's next translating creative vision into a commercially compelling product roadmap that drives consumer excitement, brand heat, and category growth.
This is a high‑visibility, high‑impact role. The Director, Merchandising will work directly with senior leadership including the CEO to set the merchandising vision and bring it to life. We are looking for a hands‑on doer, not a layer of management: someone who has personally shaped the merchandising roadmap of their own brand, led seasonal collection planning, directed color and trends strategy, and driven culture‑worthy product moments that consumers talk about.
The ideal candidate comes from a brand‑owner environment where they designed and built the products and owned the assortment strategy, not a retail or wholesale environment where they curated others' products. They understand the power of showing something new to the consumer and can channel that instinct into Shark Ninja's product design and go‑to‑market engine.
What You'll Do Merchandising Strategy & Assortment Planning- Own the end‑to‑end merchandising roadmap across Shark and Ninja product lines, defining the seasonal and annual cadence of colorways, limited editions, collectibles, and social‑worthy product drops.
- Lead assortment planning and product lifecycle management, ensuring the right product mix is in market at the right time to maximize sell‑through, margin, and brand relevance.
- Develop and manage price architecture, style attributes, and product segmentation frameworks (e.g., core vs. seasonal vs. limited edition) that balance brand storytelling with commercial rigor.
- Develop and execute a color strategy by product category, informed by seasonal trend forecasting, consumer insights, materials innovation, and competitive intelligence.
- Partner with Design Labs to direct the creative team on what's needed pushing them on colors, finishes, textures, and product expressions that align with the merchandising roadmap and commercial objectives.
- Bring an outside‑in perspective on trends in materials, finishes, packaging, and product presentation that elevate Shark Ninja's shelf presence, DTC experience, and cultural relevance.
- Collaborate with Product Development, Engineering, Brand Marketing, Sales, and Commercial Planning to integrate the merchandising strategy into the New Product Development pipeline and go‑to‑market plans.
- Represent the Merchandising function at key product creation meetings, seasonal reviews, and sell‑in presentations, ensuring the voice of the consumer and the brand is present at every stage.
- Partner with Planning and Allocation functions to ensure inventory strategies support the merchandising vision—right product, right place, right time.
- Work directly with the CEO, Chief Brand & Experience Officer, and senior leadership to set and present the merchandising vision with conviction and clarity.
- Champion a culture of product obsession and consumer‑first thinking, identifying opportunities for culture‑oriented, limited‑edition, and social‑worthy product moments that generate earned media and consumer buzz.
- Build the merchandising function's processes, tools, seasonal calendar, and cadence from the ground up, establishing Shark Ninja as a leader in product merchandising within the consumer electronics and home appliance space.
- 812+ years of progressive merchandising experience in a brand‑owner environment where you shaped the product assortment, merchandising roadmap, and seasonal collection strategy of your own brand. Apparel, lifestyle, consumer goods, or fashion industries strongly preferred.
- Deep expertise in design‑led merchandising: color strategy, trend analysis, seasonal collection planning, product lifecycle management, and product storytelling.
