Assistant Controller

The Assistant Controller would assist the Controller with general accounting operations. This role would work to ensure accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks. This position would report to the Controller and engage regularly with VP of Finance.

• Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and monthly sales entries
• Produce error-free accounting reports
• Maintain general ledger
• Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
• Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
• Assist in working with external accountants in preparation of annual tax returns and annual audits
• Prepare and file sales tax reports
• Track fixed assets
• Maintain lease payable calculations
• Direct internal audits across departments to ensure compliance with internal control standards
• Support month‑end and year‑end close process
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
• Liaise with VP of Finance to improve financial procedures
• Additional duties as assigned

• Proven experience as staff or senior accountant
• Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
• In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Awareness of business trends
• Familiarity with financial accounting statements
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month‑end/year‑end close process
• Hands‑on experience with Sage Intacct is a plus
• Advanced MS Excel skills
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
• BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field with CPA designation preferred
