Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Financial Analyst
McMahon Associates, Inc. is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Grant Specialist to support our municipal clients in identifying, securing, and managing critical funding opportunities. In this role, you will work closely with local governments and public agencies to research grant programs, develop competitive funding applications, and oversee the administration of awarded grants from start to finish. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted partner to municipalities, helping bring important infrastructure, community development, public safety, and sustainability projects to life through strategic funding and effective grant management.
Position OverviewMcMahon Associates has strong partnerships with numerous municipalities and government agencies. We strive to help these municipalities thrive and prosper by providing exceptional engineering services as well as administrative consulting. You will play a pivotal role in helping local governments secure and manage external funding. This position is responsible for identifying grant opportunities, developing compelling applications, coordinating with municipal departments, and overseeing the full administration and reporting process for awarded grants.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, detail‑oriented project manager, and strategic thinker who understands the unique needs and constraints of municipalities.
- Monitor federal, state, and private funding opportunities relevant to municipal operations, infrastructure, public safety, community development, sustainability, and other local priorities.
- Conduct proactive research to match municipal needs with available funding sources.
- Maintain a pipeline of upcoming grant opportunities and deadlines.
- Lead the development of grant proposals, including narrative writing, budget preparation, and required documentation.
- Collaborate with municipal departments to gather data, define project scopes, and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
- Ensure all applications meet eligibility requirements and comply with funder guidelines.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for funders throughout the grant lifecycle.
- Oversee post‑award requirements, including contract execution, budget tracking, procurement compliance, and documentation.
- Maintain accurate and organized grant files for audit readiness.
- Prepare and submit required progress reports, financial reports, reimbursement requests, and closeout documentation.
- Track project performance metrics and outcomes to demonstrate impact and support future applications.
- Proven experience in grant writing, preferably for government or nonprofit organizations.
- Strong understanding of U.S. federal and state grant systems (e.g., FEMA, DOT, EPA, USDA, CDBG, SAM.gov, Grants.gov).
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Experience with grant budgeting and basic financial tracking.
- Experience working directly with municipalities or public-sector agencies.
- Knowledge of municipal budgeting, procurement, and project management processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, communications, planning, or a related field.
