Position Overview
As a Technical Training Specialist, you will partner with the Operations & Training teams on various training development projects. This role is responsible for coordinating site training initiatives and objectives, including hourly and salaried workforce training; focused on reducing downtime, increasing efficiency and increasing employee competencies. The Technical Training Specialist will serve as a subject matter expert for the assigned area, maintain a current understanding of equipment, procedures and processes, and manage, edit, and review training documentation, audit department procedures and training materials, and validate understanding of training materials.
Responsibilities- Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for operations employees, fostering excellence in manufacturing operations.
- Conduct on-the-job training related to the area’s core functional operations to ensure employees are competent to perform their assigned tasks.
- Support operations by providing training for new and existing members through classroom and 1:1 training.
- Make suggestions, design and develop training materials (procedures, SOPs, OPLs, guides, visual aids or other materials) to meet learning objectives.
- Collaborate with other subject matter experts to teach/learn additional programs and provide idea sharing and feedback.
- Review ongoing employee skill level performance, identify gaps and complete skills assessments.
- Lead cross‑training and upskilling initiatives based on skill assessments and business needs.
- Work with L&D partners to monitor training delinquency and forecast training needs to ensure all training is current and manufacturing associates remain compliant with training requirements.
- Maintain manufacturing process/product knowledge by periodically supporting production.
- Participate in first run meetings, changeovers or start‑ups to ensure adherence to processes and maintain current standards in future trainings.
- Present information using a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in training, developing and onboarding employees.
- 3+ years of plant manufacturing experience in a food industry or related manufacturing facility.
- Demonstrated leadership and team development skills; ability to build a positive and productive team environment.
- Essential ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Strong one‑on‑one communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to meet the information needs of the team through regular and effective communication and follow‑up.
- Ability to effectively multi‑task responsibilities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Knowledge of administrative processes, systems and procedures for the area of responsibility.
- Team player who works well with others and contributes to a positive work environment.
- Ability to remain calm, apply good judgment and make decisions under pressure.
- Ability to troubleshoot a variety of issues: assess a situation, identify the cause, and determine potential solutions.
- Experience and ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
- Available and flexible to work overtime as needed to support the team and business needs.
- Strong record of performance in the areas of attendance, safety, quality, and productivity.
- High school diploma or GED required; post‑secondary education preferred.
We offer a competitive base pay rate and a comprehensive benefits package for full‑time employees. This position works at our Neenah, Wisconsin manufacturing facility Tuesday‑Friday, 5:30 pm – 3:30 am, with the ability to adjust hours as needed for business needs.
Physical and Mental Demands- Frequent requirement to sit, hear, type data, use a personal computer and telephone; occasional operation of business machines and lifting up to 50 pounds.
