Position Summary
The RN Clinical Nurse provides patient-centered, evidence-based nursing care across the continuum through an interprofessional approach to treatment, research, education, and advocacy. The role requires accountability for compassionate, safe care within the scope of practice defined by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing and Theda Care policy, and focuses on delivering high-quality outcomes for patients in the Neuro unit at Theda Care Regional Medical Center – Neenah.
Schedule12‑hour night shift (5:30p.m.–6:00a.m.). Every third weekend (Fri–Sun) and a rotating holiday schedule are required.
Unit DetailsThe Neuro unit is a 16‑19 bed inpatient and intermediate care unit specializing in strokes, brain surgery, and spine care, serving as a stepdown to the ICU at a level II trauma center with a higher acuity patient population.
Key Accountabilities- Utilize the nursing process and evidence‑based practice to assess patient needs and develop care plans collaboratively.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise in the assigned specialty and perform all RN functions in an age‑appropriate, developmentally sensitive, and culturally specific manner.
- Identify opportunities to improve patient experience, streamline care processes, and reduce costs while enhancing quality and satisfaction for patients, families, and staff.
- Contribute to a professional environment that fosters mentoring, engagement, and continuous development of expert clinicians.
- Provide consultation and maintain positive relationships with physicians and interprofessional team members, collaborating to solve problems and improve patient care.
- Anticipate and proactively manage risk to prevent crises; perform skillfully in life‑threatening emergencies, matching demands and resources during crisis situations.
- Current Wisconsin RN licensure.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- BSN completion is required; for non‑BSN nurses with less than one year of RN experience, a BSN must be obtained within five years of hire.
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within six months of hire date.
Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, pulling) and lift up to 50 pounds without assistance. The job is exposed to blood‑borne pathogens and requires manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination for patient care procedures.
Work EnvironmentFrequent exposure to sharp instruments, potentially moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and electrical shock. Occasional high noise levels, and possible contact with aggressive or combative patients. Standing and walking for extended periods of time are required.
