RN Supervisor - Inpatient Behavioral Health

About the Role

The RN Clinical Supervisor provides patient-centered, specialized, and evidence-based nursing care across the continuum through an inter‑professional approach to treatment, research, education, and advocacy. The role is responsible for patient outcomes that meet high quality standards and for ensuring compassionate and safe care within the scope of practice as defined by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing and Theda Care policy.

• Utilize the nursing process and evidence-based practice to assess patients and develop collaborative care plans.
• Monitor compliance with standards of care through observation, verbal reports, audits, and documentation, and provide feedback to department leaders, providers, and team members.
• Demonstrate emotional intelligence and composure during conflict and serve with integrity.
• Support department leaders in interviewing, hiring, appraising performance, and mentoring team members.
• Act strategically to manage change and guide team members through transitions.
• Advocate for stakeholders to meet strategic goals and help teams understand their contribution to organizational strategy.
• Provide constructive feedback, maintain confidentiality, and develop cross-boundary relationships.
• Plan total care needs collaboratively with the inter‑professional team.
• Demonstrate clinical expertise in the assigned specialty and perform all functions of a professional clinical nurse.
• Consult and maintain positive relationships with physicians and other inter‑professional team members.
• Collaborate on schedules, monitor staffing levels, and provide input to budget preparation.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or commitment to obtain a BSN within five years for current Theda Care RNs.
• Current Wisconsin RN license.
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Three years of clinical experience.
• Two years of experience leading projects, committees, or clinical improvement work.

Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to 50 pounds without assistance. Exposure to blood borne pathogens while performing job duties.

Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments. Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. Occasional high noise level and contact with aggressive and combative patients.

Hours are either 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. or 11:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with flexibility for later or weekend hours as needed.
