Account Manager, Business Development, Sales Representative, Outside Sales
Overview
Sonoco seeks a Territory Sales Representative to coordinate direct sales activities within assigned regions. The role focuses on increasing profitable sales growth with existing and new accounts, managing relationships, and driving market share expansion. This is a remote‑regional position, ideally based in Neenah, WI, with approximately 50% travel.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and maintain account plans for major and prospective accounts in the assigned area.
- Collaborate with marketing to develop strategic plans and ensure account plans align with division strategies.
- Implement account plan activities and monitor effectiveness, providing regular progress reports.
- Establish and maintain call plans for customers and prospects, adjusting as needed.
- Monitor account activity, reporting on expansions, closings, trends, and factors affecting volume.
- Maintain detailed customer files (share, quality, price, specifications, contacts, competitors).
- Track gross margins and make pricing recommendations.
- Develop and keep multi‑level contacts at all major accounts.
- Report account status and call information to relevant personnel.
- Promote new product and service offerings and identify new uses for existing lines.
- Maintain territory sales funnel for prospective new business.
- Provide sales projections for products and customers to support budget planning.
- Investigate customer complaints promptly and coordinate resolutions.
- Assist marketing with trade shows, conventions, and trade association meetings.
- Continuously improve product knowledge and marketplace familiarity.
- Champion new products and services regionally or division‑wide.
- Submit expense reports, call reports, itineraries weekly and other scheduled reports.
- Promote company goodwill and maintain relationships with customers and prospects.
- Protect confidential and restricted information in all external interactions.
- Comply with all company policies.
- 4‑year undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years of sales experience.
- Proven record of sales prospecting and new business development.
- Ability to manage multiple sales development projects through a complex process.
- Familiarity with the packaging industry, specifically film cores.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
The annual base salary range and target bonus by level are as follows:
- Account Representative: $73,280 - $82,440, plus an annual target bonus of 12.5% of base salary.
- Account Representative II: $99,360 - $111,780, plus an annual target bonus of 12.5% of base salary.
- Senior Account Representative: $111,760 - $125,730, plus an annual target bonus of 12.5% of base salary.
- Account Manager: $124,800 - $140,400, plus an annual target bonus of 12.5% of base salary.
