Responsibilities- The Shipping & Receiving clerk is responsible for the performance of service and assistance supporting facility and customer operations.
- The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for performing manual and clerical work in the receiving, stocking and shipping of widely diversified supplies and equipment in a shipping / receiving setting.
- Assist in the receiving, unpacking, stocking or delivering of any supplied, packages, mail and equipment.
- Coordinate shipments to other client sites.
- Operate lifts, scales, hand trucks, dollies, and other equipment used in receiving and stocking activities.
- Unload incoming shipments, verify the correct and complete order, inventory or tag items, and deliver to the appropriate department or stocking locations.
- Prepare and mail proper paperwork or contact the vendor if there is a discrepancy.
- Receive, process and check merchandise and verify the correctness of the shipment against the purchase order.
- Prepare forms and maintain records, handling discrepancies and damaged merchandise.
- Prepare shipments for return to vendors, deliver shipments to recipients, and pick up shipments from departments needing return.
- Maintain regular contact with departmental personnel regarding the status of ordered merchandise for delivery and pickup.
- Maintain regular contact with vendors and delivery drivers regarding shipment discrepancies.
- May perform other duties as assigned, with potential overnight travel.
Education - High School Diploma
Business Experience - 2 to 5 years; or equivalent education and training
Licenses/Certifications - Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; UPS/FEDEX knowledge; must have average proficiency in computer skills
Language Skills - Written and Oral Communication Skills; ability to read and comprehend instructions including safety policies; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to present information in individual and small group situations; ability to communicate effectively with management and field level employees.
Physical Demands - Standing, walking, sitting; use of hands; lifting up to 50 pounds; operation of warehouse lift equipment; vision requirements; mobility across commercial properties and construction sites; ability to move through tight spaces.
Safety and work environment: exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, risk of electrical shock, and vibrations. Required safety equipment includes steel-toe shoes, hearing protection, hardhats, eye protection, and hair protection. Adherence to safety guidelines, including OSHA regulations and lock-out/tag-out. Work schedule can be affected by production and other variables; flexibility with non-traditional schedules and weekend work.
Noise level is typically moderate or low.
