Job SummaryThe Accounts Payable Clerk processes vendor invoices, ensures timely and accurate payments, resolves discrepancies, and maintains strong communication with vendors and internal departments. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the financial accuracy and integrity of the company’s operations.
Key Responsibilities- Review and process high‑volume vendor invoices accurately and efficiently
- Match invoices to purchase orders and receive documentation
- Verify approvals and ensure adherence to company payment policies
- Reconcile vendor statements and respond to inquiries professionally and timely
- Maintain organized records of AP transactions and documentation across multiple companies
- Support month‑end closing processes and AP account reconciliations
- Collaborate with purchasing, receiving, and other departments to resolve discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements
- Will comply with Opal Foods biosecurity policies requiring no contact with any bird species other than the company’s laying hens, including domestic ducks, geese, wild birds, chickens, and pet birds
- High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field a plus
- 2+ years of accounts payable or general accounting experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookups a plus)
- Experience with ERP systems such as AERO or OVO preferred
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills
- Strong communication and problem‑solving abilities
- Ability to complete a brief, hands‑on Excel assessment as part of the interview process
