Job SummaryService progressive dies for a metal stamping operation; fabricate fixtures and assemblies for assembly operations.
Responsibilities- Sharpen cutting tools for different lathe operations
- Turn material to specified diameter on lathe
- Cut outside and inside diameters on material with lathe
- Cut angles on material with lathe
- Machine internal and external threads on material
- Operate milling machines
- Apply chemistry knowledge, working properties, and applications for different types of metal
- Understand how hardness affects material; apply heat treatments to obtain desired hardness
- Build die sections, including complete source-to-die sections
- Break down and sharpen progressive dies for repair or rebuild
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Design, maintain, and build gauges, tools, dies, and other equipment to specification
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair tooling, dies, and equipment
- Calibrate, set up, and run machines and equipment
- Apply thorough understanding of GD&T
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience as a Tool & Die Technician in a manufacturing environment
- Read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrate achievement of performance standards
- Trade School Certificate
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Experience setting up and operating EDM machinery
