1st Shift Furniture Builder

Job Summary

This is a physically demanding, fast‑paced job that involves independent or team‑based work to hand‑build quality upholstered furniture. The role requires standing for long periods, lifting and moving at least 50 lbs, and using power tools, framing and staple guns, as well as various air tools. The schedule is Monday–Thursday 5AM–3:30PM with mandatory overtime on Fridays. Starting wage is $16 per hour;

pay increases with production rate.

• Work in a team atmosphere and perform any position within the cell as needed.
• Use Kan‑Ban containers correctly.
• Upholster by knocking down sharp corners, stapling materials, inserting tack strips, and using staple pullers.
• Assemble furniture components using upholstery notes and specified air tools (drill, hog ring gun, hot glue gun, etc.).
• Frame using a frame gun, apply glue or wax per specification, and use additional air tools (crimping gun, chisel). Clean up with a glue scraper.
• Validate unit cover to ticket for each batch, coordinate workflow, insert stuffing, seal, quilt, and staple.
• Final assembly of completed units: assemble components, staple, use air tools, oil mechanisms, scan ticket, and package.
• Package by stapling, using air tools, banding, up‑ender equipment, and tape gun; secure packaging, apply ticket, and move unit as required.

• Equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the duties.
• Basic reading and writing skills; basic computer skills.
• Completion of in‑house training curriculum.
• Strong coordination for routine, repetitive tasks.
• Ability to stand up to 10 hours per day, frequently bending, twisting, and reaching.
• Capacity to push, pull, and lift at least 50 lbs.
• Skilled use of hands for gripping, pulling, and tugging.
