The Opportunity

New-Mac Electric Cooperative is a member-owned electric utility serving southwest Missouri. We are excited to be seeking a Safety & Compliance Coordinator to join our team at our Neosho, Missouri, location.

Role Summary

The Safety & Compliance Coordinator is responsible for coordinating New-Mac Electric Cooperative's safety, compliance, and risk management programs. Working collaboratively with leadership, employees, and outside agencies, this position ensures required safety training, regulatory compliance, documentation, audits, inspections, and reporting are completed accurately and on schedule. While occasional field observations and job site visits may be conducted, the primary focus is coordinating the cooperative's safety and compliance programs, supporting regulatory readiness, and promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

this role, you'll have the opportunity to:
  • Coordinate the cooperative's safety, compliance, and risk management programs to support organizational goals and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and industry regulations.
  • Coordinate required safety meetings, training, certifications, inspections, audits, drug and alcohol testing programs, and regulatory reporting.
  • Maintain accurate safety and compliance records, including training documentation, Driver Qualification (DQ) files, testing records, audit documentation, and other required regulatory records.
  • Monitor changes to applicable regulations and recommend updates to policies, procedures, and compliance practices.
  • Coordinate corrective actions resulting from audits, inspections, incidents, and regulatory reviews, and monitor progress to completion.
  • Serve as the cooperative's primary liaison with regulatory agencies, statewide organizations, insurance representatives, vendors, and third-party service providers on safety and compliance matters.
  • Prepare reports and communicate safety and compliance information to leadership, supervisors, and employees.
  • Support emergency preparedness, contractor compliance, and other organizational initiatives as assigned

  • Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, discretion, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn other business software systems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, management, regulatory agencies, vendors, and business partners.
Education and Experience Required
  • Associate degree in Safety, Business Administration, Human Resources, Risk Management, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience coordinating compliance programs, safety administration, human resources, transportation compliance, operations support, or a related field.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred
  • Experience with an electric utility, electric cooperative, construction, manufacturing, transportation, or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, or other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Professional safety or compliance certification (CSP, CLCP, CHST, OSHA, or similar) preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to travel throughout the cooperative's service territory and attend off-site meetings, training, and conferences.
  • Ability to access office, warehouse, and field locations as needed.
