Suicide Prevention Specialist - Teen

Position Summary

The Suicide Prevention Specialist - Teen plays an essential role in Here Tomorrow’s mission to “transform lives by building a community where suicide prevention is accessible without barriers.” As a trained peer support professional, you will partner with adults navigating mental health and/or substance use challenges to inspire hope, foster connection, and guide individuals toward personal wellness goals. Using your lived experience and training, you will offer compassion, mentorship, and practical resources to help peers define and achieve their own version of recovery.

• Peer Support & Mentoring:
  Provide one-on-one peer support, listening, and encouragement rooted in shared lived experience. Model recovery as a realistic, attainable goal and support individuals through each phase of their journey—from crisis through stabilization and sustained growth.
• Recovery Planning:
  Assist participants (e.g., friends) in identifying their interests, strengths, needs, and goals, and coach them in developing personalized recovery plans. Encourage self-determination and advocate for friends’ rights, fostering resiliency and self-efficacy.
• Resource Navigation & Outreach:
  Connect individuals to community mental health providers, outpatient services, stay-connected programs, and social support resources. Help remove barriers to care by coordinating referrals and follow-ups. Participate in community outreach and awareness events to promote Here Tomorrow’s services and reduce stigma.
• Education & Advocacy:
  Offer recovery education appropriate to each stage— recovery initiation, stabilization, and maintenance. Promote understanding of mental health and substance use challenges and encourage help-seeking in the community.
• Documentation & Reporting:
  Maintain accurate and timely records of all service activities in the organization’s participant data platform (e.g., Salesforce). Document interactions, outreach efforts, and resource referrals according to policy and HIPAA requirements.

• Required:
  
  Florida Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS) or ability to obtain certification within 12 months of hire.
• Required:
  
  Minimum of two (
  2) years in personal recovery from a mental health and/or substance use condition, and/or lived experience supporting a family member through recovery.
• Preferred:
  Individuals with lived experience in working with crisis and/or suicidal ideations.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Demonstrated ability to handle crises and stressful situations with compassion and clear boundaries.
• Effective communication skills, including active listening, conflict resolution, and motivational coaching.
• Comfort working with diverse populations and interacting with individuals in crisis.
• Strong organizational and record-keeping skills; proficiency with technology (Salesforce, Microsoft Office, Teams) is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, upholding ethical standards, and practicing trauma-informed care.

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings or weekends with opportunities in outreach events.
• Valid Florida driver’s license and/or reliable transportation may be required for outreach activities.
• Spanish fluency is a plus, but not required.

• This position is non-exempt and eligible for benefits (health, dental, vision, etc.).
• Starting salary depends on certification status, experience, and skills.
