Description
CME Associates is seeking a Survey Field Technician to join our surveying team in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals interested in land surveying who want hands-on field experience and structured, on-the-job training alongside experienced survey professionals.
You'll support field survey operations, assist with data collection, and contribute to surveying deliverables while developing foundational technical skills, professional judgment, and industry best practices.
Responsibilities
In the Field
- Assist with surveys using robotic total stations, GPS equipment, levels, and other measurement tools.
- Collect and document field data for boundary, topographic, construction, and related surveys.
- Perform basic field measurements, computations, and data verification.
- Help establish survey lines, including clearing brush and preparing work areas.
- Perform rod person duties and support daily field operations.
- Assist or substitute for the Crew Chief when needed, under supervision.
- Maintain survey equipment, field supplies, and crew vehicles.
- Complete assigned tasks accurately and on schedule.
- Manage personal responsibilities while adhering to project scope, safety, and deadlines.
- Work collaboratively with survey team members.
- Develop an understanding of professional ethics and standards in land surveying.
- High school diploma and/or vocational or technical training related to surveying or construction.
- 0+ years of experience. (Entry level position)
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Willingness to travel to project sites.
- Basic oral and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with survey instruments or interest in learning equipment setup and operation.
- Ability to lift and carry field equipment and perform physically demanding outdoor work.
- Comfort working in varied terrain and conditions, including brush clearing.
- Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn as part of a team.
