Service Workshop Senior Supervisor – The Netherlands
In a pivotal role within the Specialized European Operations Team, the Service Workshop Senior Supervisor leads the performance of our central service workshop at the European Distribution Centre in ’s-Heerenberg.
The person in this role is accountable for delivering highest quality across all service flows, from rider-direct ship-to-home bike preparation to advanced reworks, warranty returns, and bike preparation for re‑sale. In addition, the workshop provides suspension and wheel servicing supporting all European markets, excluding the UK.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE- Lead, motivate and develop the workshop team of 9–12 technicians, ensuring smooth daily running of the shop while fostering a culture of openness, curiosity, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Oversee daily operations across all service streams, prioritise work, execute efficiently and maintain consistent delivery to quality and compliance standards.
- Create an environment that empowers teammates, supports growth, and encourages development of technical and professional capabilities through coaching, feedback and clear pathways.
- Ensure rider satisfaction by delivering bikes that meet Specialized quality standards on first inspection and arrive at the rider in safe, ride‑ready condition.
- Own workshop KPIs – throughput, quality, lead‑time, cost‑per‑bike and team productivity – and report performance to European Operations leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity, reduce cost per bike and enhance quality and consistency, identifying bottlenecks and opportunities to reduce waste.
- Manage returns inspection and grading, decide appropriate re‑sale or scrap routes, and prepare refurbished bikes to a saleable standard.
- Lead rework and recall campaigns in collaboration with Quality, Rider Care and Global Product teams to execute changes accurately and on time.
- Maintain stock accuracy and amendments for workshop spares, consumables and packaging materials.
- Own workshop standards across the organisation – 5S, Health & Safety – ensuring a safe, compliant and high‑performing environment aligned with DC and Specialized standards.
- Be responsible for the security of the workshop team, tooling and stock, and encourage ongoing training for development and compliance.
- Liaise across the European market network and EU Retail workshop teams to align on service processes and documentation.
- Partner with Logistics, Inbound and Outbound DC teams to integrate the workshop into the wider supply‑chain flow.
- Represent the workshop in operational planning, forecasting and cross‑functional alignment forums.
- Recruit, onboard, schedule, cover holidays and manage performance of the workshop team.
- Proven leadership experience of a technical or mechanical team, ideally within bicycle service, automotive, e‑mobility or a comparable assembly/repair environment.
- Excellent prioritisation, planning and time‑management skills in a high‑volume operation.
- Ability to delegate and relinquish responsibility to others.
- Effective motivator and people developer.
- Technically excellent across all bicycle products (mechanical and electric), including suspension and wheel building/servicing.
- Sound product knowledge and a drive to learn continuously.
- Empathy towards riders to enable delivery of exceptional customer service.
- Commercial awareness – understanding of cost, productivity and revenue impact of workshop output.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety, manual handling and workshop compliance in a Dutch DC environment.
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
- Clear and effective communication across multiple cultures and time‑zones.
- IT skills to operate in Hubtiger, Oracle EBS or other workshop management systems.
- Fluent Dutch and English (written and spoken) essential; additional European languages (German, French) an advantage.
- A completed MBO‑4 education, combined with relevant management training.
- Competitive bike loan & purchase policy – ride the best, with support from us.
- Competitive equipment & apparel purchase policy – gear up with confidence.
- Lunch rides & sports.
