We are looking for a Sales Engineer to drive SICK’s electronics semiconductor automation business. The role combines business development and sales responsibilities, with an approximate 50/50 focus between developing long-term semiconductor business opportunities and driving customer-facing sales activities.
The position is based in The Netherlands and requires regular travel across Europe as well as occasional travel to Asia to support customer engagement, industry collaboration, and business development activities.
This role offers the opportunity to work within a global network of semiconductor and automation experts while contributing to SICK growth.
Our new colleague will identify and develop new opportunities in the semiconductor market, build strong relationships with selected strategic accounts, promote SICK’s product portfolio, and support the goal of positioning SICK solutions in end-customer specifications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive business growth by achieving and exceeding agreed sales targets and selected customer-account KPIs.
Develop key accounts and actively manage opportunities from initial contact through to successful closing.
Manage selected semiconductor customers as KPI-relevant accounts, ensuring structured follow-up, transparent communication, and long-term opportunity development.
Work with both direct and indirect sales channels, including end customers, system integrators where relevant.
Apply consultative selling methods while also confidently managing transactional sales activities when required.
Business Development & Market Development
Develop and execute sales and business development strategies for the assigned semiconductor customer portfolio and market scope.
Identify new business opportunities, create compelling value propositions, and support commercial negotiations with customers and partners.
Build market transparency in the semiconductor industry, with a specific focus on understanding customer structures, application needs, and business opportunities in Asia where applicable.
Use existing semiconductor industry experience and competence to strengthen SICK’s market approach and customer positioning
Analyze market trends, customer needs, competitor activities, sales forecasts, and market developments to uncover growth opportunities and continuously optimize business performance.
Identify customer application requirements and translate them into suitable SICK solution approaches.
Promote the relevant SICK product portfolio basket within SICK Asia and toward semiconductor customers where applicable.
Support the strategic objective of getting SICK solutions included in end-customer specifications as a next step in business development.
Work closely with Product Management, Marketing, Technical Support, Business Centers and Global Industry Management to deliver the best solutions for customers.
Collaboration & Community Leadership
Act as a global team player and contribute to transparent communication with Business Centers and Global Industry Management
Support and/or lead the SICK Asia semiconductor community where applicable, helping connect local customer insights with global semiconductor strategy.
Collaborate proactively across sales, product, marketing, and technical teams to align customer needs with SICK’s automation portfolio.
PROFILE
Experience
Approximately 5–10 years of semiconductor-industry-related experience, for example with a machine builder, in semiconductor operations, or in a comparable semiconductor environment.
More than five years of experience in technical sales within industrial automation is aligned with the referenced SICK posting.
Proven track record in developing business with end customers, OEMs and system integrators while managing key accounts throughout the full sales cycle.
Strong “hunter” mentality with the ability to identify, pursue, and develop new business opportunities.
Strong customer focus, results orientation, proactivity, analytical thinking, and ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
Consultative selling capability, with confidence in both strategic business development and transactional sales activities.
Ability to develop compelling value propositions and lead commercial negotiations.
Ability to work in organized and structured way.
Ability to communicate effectively with C-level executives
Strong communication skills in English, including meetings and presentations
Longer-term commitment to semiconductor business development.
Global team-player mindset with willingness to collaborate across regions, functions, and business units.
Willingness to travel within Europe and sporadically to Asia.
