Deputy Clerk-Treasurer II will be responsible for filing and maintaining voter registrations and various documents related to elections, coordinate setting up of elections, implementing new programs and procedures and all related election activities. This position will be responsible for processing monthly settlements from other departments along with processing Direct Deposits from the State of Nevada and Investment Pool monies. Deputy Clerk-Treasurer II will collect taxes, process fees and deposits;
file and maintain records of various documents
- Processing of and maintain records of voter registration applications;
- Ensuring that NRS and Federal requirements are met with regard to voter registration and elections;
- Implementing program changes are required by NRS and the Federal Government;
- Process accounts payable vouchers by date stamping and collecting vendor remittance slips and mailing of the accounts payable checks upon return from the Comptroller’s office;
- Process tax payments over the counter and by mail;
- Process deposits for County departments;
- Process room tax and prepare reports relating to room tax revenue;
- Process outgoing and incoming mail;
- Prepares and executes daily bank deposits;
- Files and indexes fictitious firm names, processes marriage officiant application, etc.;
- Issues marriage licenses; processes notary bonds and collects fees; assists the public; edits materials for clarity;
- Assists with the preparation of the of delinquent property tax auction;
- Maintain close communication with the Recorder, Comptroller and Assessor Offices; and
- Typing agendas and minutes for Commissioners meetings
- Operational characteristics, services and activities of a Clerk-Treasurer’s Office;
- Election laws and procedures;
- Political reform requirements;
- Business English, spelling and arithmetic; and
- Pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations.
- Computer systems such as Excel and Word
- Prepare correspondence and other written materials;
- Organize, prioritize and coordinate work activities;
- Deal with the public, in person or over the phone, often where relations may be confrontational or strained;
- Assess and prioritize multiple tasks; and
- Establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers.
- Good English Practice for wording minutes and agendas
- Coordinate municipal/local government elections;
- Work discreetly and confidentially with voter records and all other confidential related matters, including maintaining confidentiality within the office;
- Develop and administer program goals, objectives and procedures;
- Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations;
- Interpret and apply federal, state and local policies, laws and regulations;
- Maintain composure under difficult circumstances (heavy work load, upset customers, etc.)
- Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing;
- Multi-task and Cross-train in all aspects of the department.
Possession of a valid driver’s license or alternative means of travel. Possession of, or ability to obtain, as appropriate, valid Nevada Notary Public License and licenses must be maintained and current throughout duration of employment.
