Contract Specialist
Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Contract Specialist at our Elko operation. As part of the Supply Chain team, the successful candidate will be support centric adding to our already challenging, yet rewarding, work environment strengthening our mining operations.
The Contract Specialist is project oriented and is responsible for the coordination of timely and accurate development/execution of project contract plans to ensure the completion of key milestones and objectives, minimize commercial risks, enhance competitive advantage, and meet internal standards and requirements.
Responsibilities- Deliver contracts covering the requirements of the user areas in response to urgent and ongoing operational needs; identify and develop suppliers in the market to support commercial and operational needs.
- Manage the tender process, facilitate the selection of service providers, develop contract documentation, support ongoing contract management, and coordinate information to evaluate proposals with user areas.
- Develop and maintain a contracts register for the end‑user group and maintain currency.
- Support the continuous improvement and execution of the sourcing strategy, policies, and guidelines for service categories and contracts; participate in the development of value‑added services for SCM customers, cost savings, and other performance metrics.
- Ensure timely and professional service to user departments in the preparation and evaluation of bids, negotiation with suppliers, and recommendation to management for approvals; prepare contract documentation, issue award letters, and manage contract closeout.
- Acquire services per operational requirements, obtain the best total cost of ownership, execution terms, and quality conditions.
- Know and comply with Mining Safety and Health regulations and Loss Prevention procedures; consider health and safety impact of decisions and seek methods to improve safety performance of supplier base both operationally and contractually.
- Demonstrate social awareness, commitment, and compliance with Social Responsibility Policy, showing socially responsible behavior with the Community and the Company.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Accounting, or related field, or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum 2 years of directly related procurement experience or equivalent combination of training and experience required.
- Strong computer skills using office software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio required.
- Knowledge of Oracle, Ellipse, or equivalent enterprise level software packages preferred.
- Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills required.
