Range $72.026-$130,936 annually with Employer-paid retirement, dependent upon previous experience.

NON-EXEMPT, this is a salaried position assigned to the Licensed Employee Salary Schedule.

Position Summary

The School Psychologist will assist students to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. They collaborate with educators, administrators, families, and other mental health professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for all students and strengthen connections between home and school. The School Psychologist will provide a full range of psychological services to children, including screening and assessment, designing remedial education programs, individual and group counseling with school staff, parents, and outside agencies as appropriate.

The School Psychologist functions as a member of the multi‑disciplinary team to determine the student's eligibility for special services, appropriate programming, and ongoing progress.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group services to children and/or parents that emphasize improved educational performance and/or conduct.
  • Screen and evaluate referred children, selecting appropriate instruments, administering tests and observations, and writing reports that state evaluation findings and provide educational program recommendations.
  • Administer appropriate assessments to students on referral, interpret results, summarize findings for parents, and report findings via approved district procedures; write intervention plans; ensure that assessments and plans are implemented within stipulated time frames and according to guidelines; process appropriate referral documentation.
  • Participate as a member of the multi‑disciplinary team and the individualized education program (IEP) committee, contributing evaluation findings and collaborating on the child's education plan.
  • Provide collaborative consultation and documentation of results, assisting basic education staff with pre‑referral intervention strategies and providing recommendations and modifications to aid basic education staff in working with special education students in the classroom setting.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, and other appropriate staff regarding the child's program and any adaptations or materials needed to facilitate improved performance in the classroom or at home.
  • Provide direct services through a variety of methods (e.g., classroom presentations, co‑teaching in general education settings, in‑services to staff and parents) as needed.
  • Maintain appropriate data on students to document current levels of performance and other pertinent information; re‑evaluate, as appropriate, to determine extent of progress and effectiveness of intervention.
  • Support and implement District policies, regulations, procedures, and administrative directives; demonstrate loyalty to the District and other administrators; follow the policies and procedures of the served school districts.
  • Submit records, reports, and assignments promptly and efficiently.
  • Demonstrate the ability to adjust to and use new approaches in the performance of duties.
  • Seek and take advantage of opportunities for professional growth.
Position Expectations
  • Demonstrate knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding identification and placement of students in special education.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current theories and methodologies of effective family instructional intervention and behavior modification.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of community support resources and family service agencies.
  • Maintain the skills to obtain, clarify, and exchange information and provide instruction to parents related to the use of behavior modification techniques.
  • Effectively communicate instructional strategies and interventions, maintain confidentiality, act as a liaison with community family service agencies and other support resources, and establish effective working relationships in a multi‑cultural, diverse, socio‑economic setting.
