Job Description:

This Foundational Science Faculty member will contribute to the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of the integrated medical curriculum within a collaborative academic environment dedicated to innovative medical education, healthcare, and research.

Roseman University College of Medicine (RUCOM) emphasizes interprofessional education, patient-centered care, and social accountability in preparing the next generation of physicians. Faculty in the Department of Basic Sciences work closely with colleagues across foundational and clinical disciplines to deliver a horizontally and vertically integrated curriculum that prepares students for clinical practice and lifelong learning.

The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in foundational biomedical sciences and medical education. Faculty with broad teaching experience across disciplines are preferred, with particular interest in candidates with expertise in pathology, physiology, pathophysiology, epidemiology/biostatistics and anatomy.

Essential Functions

* Work collaboratively with faculty teams to design, implement, and continuously improve a horizontally and vertically integrated medical curriculum in the foundational and clinical sciences.

* Deliver an integrated foundational science curriculum to undergraduate medical students, utilizing traditional and active learning modalities.

* Generate and distribute high-quality instructional materials in a timely manner, including case-based and clinically integrated learning resources.

* Develop both formative and summative assessments that integrate biomedical and clinical sciences content.

* Participate in course administration and management, including assessing students in a timely manner.

* Contribute to teaching and educational activities within the Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences Program.

* Participate in accreditation activities and continuous quality improvement initiatives related to the undergraduate medical education curriculum.

* Serve as a mentor or advisor for student scholarly or research projects as appropriate.

* Participate in college and institutional committees, task forces, and academic initiatives as assigned by the Associate Dean of Foundational Education or other academic leadership.

Qualifications

* Terminal doctoral degree (MD, DO, or PhD in a relevant biomedical science discipline).

* Demonstrated experience in undergraduate medical education, including foundational science curriculum development and delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience working in interdisciplinary and interprofessional academic environments.

* Demonstrated ability to teach across multiple biomedical disciplines within an integrated curriculum.

* Experience with active learning pedagogies such as team-based learning, case-based learning, and small-group facilitation.

* Proficiency in multiple-choice question item writing.

* Commitment to excellence and innovation in teaching and scholarship.

* Commitment to develop clinically excellent, community responsive, socially accountable, humble, compassionate, and inclusive physicians.

* Experience mentoring and advising students.

* Evidence of scholarly activity such as educational research, publications, or presentations.

* Demonstrated commitment to ongoing faculty development and continuous improvement in educational practice.
