Description:
McDermitt Combined School is a K-12 school serving about 110 students in the rural and isolated community of McDermitt, in northern Nevada. It is a fully served Title I school with an ethnically diverse student population, including high percentages of Native American and Hispanic students, many of whom are English Language Learners (ELL). The school receives significant federal and state grant funding each year.
The physical plant is located in the township of McDermitt and serves as a central focus of the community, hosting social, political, athletic, and civic events. The Principal will become an active partner in the community, serve as the sole administrator, athletic director, grant administrator, Fort McDermitt Service Learning Director, and liaison to the community.
- Must be willing to reside in or nearby the township of McDermitt;
- Must hold, or be able to obtain a Nevada Administrative Certificate;
- Prefer three years’ experience in school administration, with evidence of distinguished accomplishment;
- Experience in working with ethnically diverse student populations including ESL, Title I, Special Education, and minority students. Experience with Native American students preferred;
- Experience in writing and managing state and federal grant funding;
- Experience and distinguished accomplishment in school management, instructional leadership, and school improvement;
The successful candidate will be placed in the appropriate column and step on the HCSD administrative pay scale, depending on experience and education. HCSD provides health care benefits including vision and dental plans. In addition, the district contributes fully to the Public Employees Retirement System on behalf of the employee.
