Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Responsibilities

MSTS is seeking a Nuclear Facilities Operations Specialist I to support PULSE, an underground facility at the NNSS. This position reports to the PULSE Operations Supervisor and will support the PULSE Operations Manager and Facility Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support operations and maintenance at Nuclear or High Hazard facilities to maintain a condition and configuration to accept and support programs and projects
  • Organize and facilitate Operational Drills.
  • Monitor, issue, and storage for Measurement and Test Equipment per company policies.
  • Access buildings, conduct walk-downs, inspections, and/or monitoring rounds to verify facility readiness to conduct or continue operations in an underground facility.
  • Perform system lineups in accordance with approved procedures and checklists.
  • Perform normal and emergency operation of installed facility structures, systems, and components in support of facility operations.
  • Provide support for execution of program/project activities and data collection (i.e., fissile material handling, chemical, explosive, and radiological, etc.).
  • Maintain the Facility Logbook.
  • Perform other duties assigned by Management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in field related to the position or equivalent training and experience.
  • Two years of experience working with requirements-based systems for areas such as facility operations and maintenance operations preferred.
  • Training or experience in areas related to nuclear operations or nuclear maintenance such as those found at a DOE nuclear facility, commercial power plant, or US Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program is a plus.
  • Ability to identify deficiencies in the field and communicate findings to the appropriate personnel.
  • Ability to read and follow detailed instructions utilizing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Conduct in-service inspections and system surveillances.
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and MS Outlook are desired.
  • Work location is in the forward area of the NNSS, approx. 85 miles from North Las Vegas.
  • Work schedule is 4/10s, Monday thru Thursday (subject to change).
  • Night shift and day shift (both include potential for weekend work Fri/Sat/Sun).
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
