Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). ResponsibilitiesMSTS is seeking to hire an Engineer II for the Power Engineering department. This role will provide engineering support and oversight for high and medium voltage (up to 138 kV) power transmission, distribution and substation construction, maintenance, and operational activities for the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). The Engineer II reports directly to the Power Engineering Manager, within the Site Power organization.
Key Responsibilities- Provide engineering support for field operations including walkdowns, work package development, construction support, troubleshooting, event/outage analysis, and outage mitigation.
- Key power stakeholder for initial project scoping and at turnover to analyze configuration impacts and execute necessary change control across all projects.
- Support as an integrated project member from inception to execution for large complex projects that will produce new or modified power system assets to be turned over to Site Power for operations and maintenance.
- Contribute to the technical development, design, and analysis activities for small power tasks and projects using prescribed codes and standards, computer software, and generally accepted best practices.
- Update and maintain system model, studies, and configuration records.
- Participate in developing maintenance programs and electrical apparatus testing procedures and policies.
- Maintain reliability tracker including data collection, validation, analysis, and reporting.
- Monitor or analyze work of technicians and other support personnel working on projects, maintenance, or troubleshooting activities.
- Develop and maintain Site Power's construction standards and equipment specifications.
- Maintain system relay settings, templates, and manage associated policies and procedures.
- Maintain engineering tools and software including associated metadata and data flows.
- Follow established technical engineering procedures and policies including protection manuals, testing and maintenance processes, design standards, and reliability metric policies.
- Develop a working knowledge of relevant codes and standards.
- May serve as a member of work teams spanning multiple engineering disciplines.
- Coordinate with external engineering support as needed for complex engineering needs.
- Mentor less experienced staff in specific discipline.
- Support senior engineers as needed and perform other duties assigned by management.
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) required for Civil, Mechanical and Electrical engineering;
- Or, a calculus‑based STEM bachelor's degree in engineering;
