Position: I & E (Solar) Technician
Location: Hazen

Brief Description

The Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) / Solar Technician designs, develops, executes, and oversees electrical or mechanical control systems for a geothermal power plant with a focus on the solar field, and will also review plant processes and designs improvements in efficiency.

Responsibilities Electrical and Control Systems
  • Operates, maintains, and/or diagnoses issues with solar inverters, transformers, modules, wiring, combiner boxes, foundations, trackers, and associated structures.
  • Supports mechanical maintenance for the geothermal power plant and wellfield equipment.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on all site electrical equipment.
  • Completes electrical equipment rounds and control electrical site documentation.
  • Calibrates and operates voltage, megger, infrared, and ultrasonic analog and transmitter test equipment.
  • Reviews electrical plans for retrofits and plant projects.
  • Manages electrical testing and protective relaying testing program.
  • Provides technical support and assistance for Cyrq operations, maintenance, and business development.
  • Assists with root cause analysis for failures and safety incidents.
  • Develops control philosophies and cause & effect documentation.
  • Completes redlining and updating of plant one-lines, schematics, electrical distribution, wiring diagrams and other electrical and controls related documentation including control philosophies and cause and effect documentation.
Company Support
  • Adheres to, supports, and helps enforce all company safety and environmental rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Assists with causality control measures during plant upset conditions, including containment, control, and corrective actions.
  • Completes all required safety, process, equipment, or related trainings by deadlines.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education. Associate or higher or technical certification in Control Systems, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience managing electrical systems in a production or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Proficient with industry codes and standards including NEC and NFPA
  • Proficient with configuring and modifying control logic in PLC, VFD configurations, and HMI graphics.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed to meet plant and outage demands.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and in writing
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, while demonstrating responsible behavior and attention to detail
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk moderate distances, twist, stoop/bend, squat, kneel, crawl, reach, push, pull, and climb stairs or ladders regularly.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to tolerate remote environments, indoor /outdoor work, wildlife, possible dust, dirt and wind, including any weather typical for all seasons in southern California, Nevada and/or Utah.
  • Ability to don all forms of required Personal Protective Equipment and work at heights of up to 60’.
  • Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
