We are recruiting a Geotechnical Engineer II for the Fourmile Project Team. The role supports the Senior Project Geotechnical Engineer and Project Manager in delivering the feasibility study, assessing the technical, economic, and financial aspects of the Fourmile project. The successful candidate will work with mining engineers, operations personnel, and geologists, and will be involved from pre‑feasibility through to operation.
Responsibilities- Independently perform work which involves visual inspections of the underground mining activities to identify ground hazards, provide recommendations and monitor excavation performance.
- Ensure adherence to the Ground Control standards and maintain the ground support QA/QC program, such as rockbolt pull-testing and strength testing of shotcrete and backfill.
- Utilize rock mechanics properties to design ground support as needed.
- Collect, analyze, and report on geotechnical monitoring data and maintain databases.
- Assist with ground control safety training programs.
- Provide support with geotechnical related projects, as necessary.
- Perform geotechnical mapping underground and geotechnical core logging for specific drill programs.
- The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.
- Bachelor of Engineering or Science degree in Mining, Civil, Geological or Geotechnical Engineering or related Engineering discipline required
- Previous underground Geotechnical Experience or underground internshipsrequired
- Previous experience performing detailed geotechnical core logging preferred
- Familiarization with mining software packages (preferably Deswik) preferred
- Team leadership, problem solving, and excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required
- Flexibility in work hours for on-call and call-outs, as needed preferred
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independentlyrequired
- Strong communication and team fostering skills required
