MST — Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). - Lead and supervise a technical team within the Data & Diagnostics Group, Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation (DNN) Programs.
- Provide technical and operational oversight for projects related to geologic characterization, advanced modeling, seismic network operations, and advanced seismic modeling.
- Mentor and develop staff, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
- Coordinate and prioritize group activities to ensure timely completion of research, analysis, and field operations, aligning with program goals and compliance requirements.
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders, including Engineering, Operations, Facilities, and National Laboratory partners, to facilitate project planning, execution, and data sharing.
- Represent the Data & Diagnostics Group at meetings, briefings, and scheduling sessions, resolving conflicts and communicating project status and needs.
- Oversee the integration and application of diagnostic technologies and data analytics to enhance seismic monitoring and geologic assessments.
- Ensure all group activities adhere to safety, security, and quality standards, taking immediate action to address any observed concerns.
- Support the development and review of technical documents, reports, and presentations related to geologic and seismic research.
- Perform other supervisory duties as assigned by management.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 8 years of related and progressively responsible experience.
- Geoscience discipline preferred;
Master’s or Doctorate in a geoscience discipline highly preferred. - Demonstrated expertise in geologic characterization, modeling, seismic network operations, and data analysis.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to write proposals and develop technical scope.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with national laboratories or government agencies.
- Knowledge of safety, security, and quality assurance practices in scientific and field environments.
- Primary work location:
Nevada National Security Site, approximately 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas. - Position may require oversight of night shift or work on other shifts at managerial discretion.
- Work schedule:
Four 10‑hour shifts, Monday through Thursday. - Pre‑placement physical examination, including a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
The position requires a DOE Q‑level security clearance. Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter, including U.S. citizenship and a minimum age of 18. The role involves a federal background investigation and may require a counterintelligence evaluation, including a polygraph examination.
