Position: EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST with Security Clearance
Location: Nellis Air Force Base

Duties (Continued from Summary):
Numbered Air Force (NAF), federal, state, local, and host nation plans in the mission area(s) of prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery. (Duties):
* Develops, coordinates, obtains approval, and publishes plans and procedures for implementation of installation policies and instructions relating to EM and CBRN Defense.
* Conducts installation EM assessment and interprets and analyzes assessment results.
* Conducts initial and recurring training for functional areas of EM.
* Serves as Emergency Support Function (ESF
5), EM representative in the EOC and CBRN Control Center. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
* Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
* Must have successfully completed or be able to complete within one (1) year of appointment to position, the Air Force Emergency Management Apprentice Course at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.
* Completion of the National Planners Course is highly desirable.
* Air Force Certified Associate Emergency Manager (AFCAEM) certification is highly desirable.
* Must possess or obtain (and maintain), within six (6) months of appointment to position, hazardous materials level training certifications through International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or - * - Pro Board Fire Service Professional Qualifications System Awareness, Operations, and Technician to perform containment, control, detection, and identification. Proficiency in these requirements is essential to maintaining this position.
* May be required to be certified on and wear emergency protective and safety equipment IAW DoD guidance.
* Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays.
* May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or Shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
* This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. Qualifications (Conditions of Employment Continued):
* This position is emergency-essential. In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent, or designated alternate, must continue to perform the Emergency-Essential duties until relieved by proper authority. The incumbent or the designated alternate may be required to take part in readiness exercises. This position cannot be vacated during national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively.

This meets the criteria of an Emergency-Essential position and requires that the incumbent, or the designated alternate, be removed from any military recall status. Employee must sign DD Form 2365 as a condition of employment.
* This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
* The duties of this position require the employee to operate a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's licenses required. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, 0089.
