Primary Responsibilities:

Provide compassionate patient care by helping alleviate anxiety and educating patients throughout their radiation therapy journey
Responsible for daily warm-up of treatment machine. This includes entering information in the warm-up log book. Any variations from parameters set by physicist should be reported to the Lead Radiation Therapist
Responsible to check simulator for proper operation. Any problem that would interfere with proper operation should be reported to the Lead Radiation Therapist. All checks done should be properly entered on the simulator warm-up log
Accurately position and immobilize patients to ensure safe, precise, and reproducible treatment delivery
Educate patients regarding treatment procedures, expected side effects, and self-care measures to support successful treatment outcomes
Perform daily quality assurance and operational checks of linear accelerators and simulation equipment, documenting results and reporting variances according to department policy
Operate CT simulation equipment and verify image quality for treatment planning purposes
Perform CT simulations utilizing appropriate immobilization devices and positioning techniques to ensure accurate treatment planning and delivery
Acquire and review high-quality simulation images to support physician contouring and dosimetric planning
Create and maintain treatment marks, tattoos, and photographic documentation as required for treatment reproducibility
Maintain continuous visual and audio monitoring of patients during simulation and treatment procedures
Deliver radiation treatments accurately according to physician prescriptions and approved treatment plans
Perform image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) procedures, including KV imaging, CBCT, and other verification imaging as prescribed
Verify patient identity and treatment parameters in accordance with departmental and regulatory safety standards
Schedule treatments and coordinate patient care activities to ensure efficient clinic workflow and patient satisfaction
Monitor patients for treatment-related side effects and communicate concerns promptly to the Radiation Oncologist and nursing team
Obtain and document patient assessments, including weekly weight monitoring and other clinical measurements as indicated
Facilitate physician on-treatment visits and ensure patients are evaluated regularly throughout their treatment course
Collaborate effectively with physicians, physicists, dosimetrists, nurses, MA's and support staff to provide exceptional patient care
Maintain accurate and complete documentation within the electronic medical record and treatment management systems
Adhere to all radiation safety, quality assurance, HIPAA, and regulatory requirements
Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives, continuing education, and professional development activities
Support a culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, and patient-centered care

Required Qualifications:

High School graduate or equivalent
Completion of formal training program of Radiation Therapy
Current State of Nevada license
Current CPR Certification
ARRT in Radiation Therapy

Preferred

Qualification:

1+ years of experience working in an acute care hospital setting
1+ years of experience as a Radiation Therapist

Experience with :
Aria, Varian linear accelerators/Truebeam, GE/Siemens CT scanner/simulation, SBRT/SRS
Working with radiation producing equipment
