* IMPORTANT NOTE:
In lieu of benefits due to "per diem" status, 15% will be added to the hourly rate. Per diem employees are offered work on an "as-needed" basis.
This position performs clerical duties, acts as a unit receptionist, coordinates unit/patient activities with other departments via proper use of the computer and telephone, and maintains an orderly and efficient station relating to the Infusion Center. Duties include greeting patients and visitors according to CVH customer service standards, scheduling appointments, assisting nursing staff with basic patient care activities, and supporting telemedicine.
POSITIONREQUIREMENTS
High School education or equivalent.
CERTIFICATION REQUIRED- BLS required
- Professional customer service skills
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology, proper grammar, and spelling
- Basic computer skills
- Basic arithmetic skills
- Basic office equipment knowledge
- Good organizational and multi‑tasking skills
- Previous unit clerk experience
- Medical terminology and/or medical experience
- English communication; bilingual abilities preferred
- Possess knowledge of current policies and procedures.
- Communicate all pertinent questions and answers related to the registration process.
- Maintain up‑to‑date and accurate documentation to integrate information for the healthcare team.
- Scan all documents timely per medical records protocols.
- Assist with order entry for Infusion Center patients as needed.
- Maintain computer skills needed for registering, verifying, and authorizing patient accounts.
- Understand all registration processes and maintain current skills.
- Maintain accurate computer records.
- Review the department's record‑keeping system and recommend changes or updates as needed.
- Check patients in as they arrive and have them sign consent.
- Check vitals on each patient after rest.
- Offer refreshments, pillows, and blankets as needed.
- Answer phones and fax lab results to MDs.
- Make copies of forms, fax cover sheets, registration, and dietary forms.
- Ensure patient packets are complete with HAR, arm band, and current order prior to following day.
- Answer and direct phone calls professionally, take messages, and follow up.
- Maintain professional phone etiquette.
- Daily communication with personnel from all departments to schedule diagnostic tests, order diets, and requisition supplies.
- Communicate daily with physicians, nurses, visitors, and patients.
- Coordinate with outside resources (pharmacies, clinics, home health organizations) for follow‑up care and medication delivery.
- Order office supplies; stock food and linen.
- Monitor referral and authorization status to schedule patients timely.
0730 to 1600; days vary; minimum of two shifts per month. Per diem positions have no guaranteed hours or set schedule. The position will fill in for individuals who take unplanned and/or planned time off.
