Job Description MSTS manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). ResponsibilitiesThe Information Technology department is seeking a high performing individual to supervise their IT Network Telecommunications team. The Supervisor in this role oversees the day-to-day operations of this Telecommunications team responsible for installation, maintenance and repair of radio, microwave, telephone, fiber optics, and other IT systems.
Key Responsibilities- Directly supervises individual contributors, including approving time, conducting performance evaluations, and participating in the recruiting, selection, orientation, and training of staff.
- Establish activity level work assignments, tickets, and/or work projects.
- Evaluates tasks, reviews employee training requirements, and performs job briefing and safety reviews.
- Responsible to ensure that all activity-level work strictly follows Integrated Work Control Process requirements and company directives.
- Responsible to champion and drive adherence to Integrated Safety Management (ISM) fostering a strong safety culture within team.
- Responsible for enforcing strict safety protocol and ensure unwavering adherence to company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for championing and driving compliance with Integrated Work Control processes across team operations to foster buy in and compliance.
- Organize and supervise day-to-day operations, ensuring that schedules are kept.
- Conduct post-installation inspections and ensure work quality meets design specifications.
- Oversee all phases of I/OSP construction projects, including fiber and copper installation, splicing, and drops.
- Supervise RF field teams in maintenance of radio, microwave, and other signal propagation medium.
- Monitor performance against metrics and goals as established/approved by others.
- Manage material inventory and track labor/material costs for project budgets.
- Interact daily with subordinates and frequent interaction with manager.
- External interactions are primarily with vendors and/or customers.
- May perform work of the same type as those being supervised, as well as providing technical guidance.
- Ensure the team provides excellent customer service.
- Responsible for operational management of ticket assignments to the telecommunications team.
- Serve as escalation point for the telecommunications team.
- Assist the team with discovering, diagnosing and triaging user problems effectively and efficiently.
- Maintain communication to users concerning system wide issues and escalation of individual issues.
- Develop strategies for improvement based on the needs of the customers.
- Attend and participate in the IT Management Operation Review meetings.
- Attend and participate in Change Advisory Board meetings.
- Perform other duties assigned by Management.
Bachelors' degree or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 8 years of related and progressively responsible experience.
- Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or related field desired.
- Must have IT experience including field telecommunication team leadership.
- Strong technical knowledge of RF engineering, signal propagation theory, fiber optic and copper cabling, and operational knowledge of various interconnections.
- Experience/understanding of analog IT systems to include telephones and alarms notifications.
- Understanding of SLAs and KPIs required.
- Good knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio and other office applications required.
