Job SummaryThe Nevada State Public Defender, Ely Office, is responsible for representing indigent clients in the Municipal Court of Ely Township, Ely Justice Court and the Seventh Judicial District Court
Essential QualificationsNevada Bar Membership is required or candidates must be eligible to practice under the rural practice provision of the Nevada Supreme Court Rule 49.9. Preference may be given to candidates that are Cat A certified, self motivated, possess conflict resolution skills, proficient in Microsoft 360 programs, Legal Case Management software systems, and is fluent in Spanish. Experience in criminal defense law
Job DutiesMeeting with clients in and out of custody, reviewing and analyzing discovery, consulting with clients, investigators, and additional office staff, managing court appearances, client meetings, telephonic conferences, and negotiating with opposing counsel. This position may supervise one or more Deputy Public Defenders and/or contracted attorneys.
