Job goal:
Under general direction, performs custodial functions required to maintain assigned site buildings in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition; arrange and maintain the physical environment required for activities held at the site. Provides safe and efficient transportation for District students.

Tonopah Elementary School (K-5)

10.0 hours per day, 4 days per week, 12 months per year

Base pay range: $18.68/hr - $21.35/hr

• Follow district procedures and training to ensure facility cleanliness including floor care, maintenance of hard surfaces and carpeting, cleaning (sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming).
• Shampooing carpets, periodic spot cleaning, and deep cleaning; strip, wax, seal, and buff floors using appropriate machines for surfaces such as VCT, ceramic tile, wood, etc.
• Clean, disinfect, and polish plumbing fixtures; remove spots and graffiti; sanitize furniture, walls, windows, and high-touch areas; maintain storage and equipment areas.
• Operate custodial equipment safely and perform routine maintenance; submit work orders as needed; follow label instructions for cleaning agents.
• Coordinate with the day custodian for supplies and maintenance; liaison with administration regarding facility use for activities.
• Perform light maintenance and repairs (e.g., ceiling tile, lighting, landscaping, furniture). Ensure health and safety for students, staff, custodians, and visitors.
• Follow NCSD single-point entry protocol; secure gates, doors, rooms, and buildings during and after the school day; conduct security checks before vacating.
• Contact supervisor and MOSS for urgent issues and submit detailed work orders for district maintenance staff.
• May move, assemble, or disassemble furniture or equipment; assist other departments during emergencies.
• Observe traffic laws and mandatory safety regulations for school buses; maintain bus cleanliness and integrity of bus interior; follow routes, stops, and schedules; report accidents and safety issues; perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections; enforce bus safety rules.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Current physical examination as required by CDL
• Completion of District/State training course
• Valid Nevada Commercial Driver License with Passenger & School Bus endorsements
• Ability to pass State and Federal criminal background check
• Compliance with NCSD Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy
• Knowledge of custodial safety, health procedures, and appropriate PPE; ability to perform moderate to heavy physical labor (lifting up to 50 lbs or more)
• Computer literate; experience with Microsoft Word and Google Sheets
• Ability to learn relevant regulations; effective communication; ability to work with students, staff, parents, and the public
• FERPA, HIPAA familiarity and other confidentiality guidelines
• Knowledge of district policies and emergency/crisis procedures
