MSTS is seeking a Supervisor II to lead the Power Operations Craft personnel and will share the responsibility for safe, reliable, and effective operations of the Site Power transmission, substation, and distribution systems. The Power Operations Supervisor II will support Site Power Operations by providing industry best practices in the advancement of capabilities, training, processes, tooling and equipment. The Power Operations Supervisor II reports directly to the Site Power Operations Manager II within the Maintenance & Critical Site Infrastructure (MCSI) Directorate.
Reporting directly to the Power Operations Manager, the Power Operations Supervisor II is responsible for supervision of all Linemen and serves as a key member of the management team, ensuring safe, reliable, and effective operations. Regular duties include the maintenance and repair of electrical power transmission, distribution lines, and substations at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS).
Key Responsibilities- Directly supervise Linemen personnel, including approving time, conducting performance evaluations, and participating in recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training of staff.
- Participate in planning teams for work package development.
- Coordinate with General Foremen and Foremen for deployed job site crew structures to conduct maintenance and project activities.
- Implement and follow company policies, procedures and directives, including the Project Labor Agreement (PLA).
- Develop and maintain cooperative and professional relationships with the Site Facility Managers, Construction Management and Users/Customers on site, and Union Hall representatives.
- Jointly develop and maintain the 30-day schedule and 60-day look-ahead with the Power Operations Supervisor that supervises Wiremen.
- Organize and supervise day-to-day Lineman activities, ensuring that schedules are kept.
- Prepare and submit utility switching orders with comprehensive information consistent with planned scope of work in a timely manner.
- Ensure that required materials and equipment is available and incorporated with the project when needed.
- Maintain tracking of change order work and extra work.
- Assist Work Planning with estimates regarding labor, and equipment needs when requested.
- In emergency situations, may perform work of the same type as those being supervised, as well as provide technical guidance.
- Maintain quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards; analyzing and resolving quality and customer service problems; identifying trends; and recommending system improvements.
- May collect, assemble and analyze a broad range of requirements to meet the needs of the organization.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 8 years of related and progressively responsible experience.
- Prior experience as an International Brotherhood of Electrical Worker (IBEW) Journeyman Lineman, required.
- Must have good working knowledge of electronic and electromechanical relays, metering, transmission and distribution, circuit breakers (gas, oil, air, and vacuum), regulators, transformers, circuit switches, control systems, data acquisitions, and battery and uninterruptible power supply systems.
- Demonstrate strong teamwork abilities and foster a positive and safe team environment.
- Proficiency in common Microsoft products to include Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Ability to set priorities, supervise others, build and lead teams.
- Ability to handle daily project problems quickly and efficiently.
- Ability to work occasional scheduled or unscheduled overtime when necessary.
- Ability to initiate changes required to implement process improvements.
- The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada).
