The Community Relations Superintendent is responsible for leading, developing, and executing a comprehensive community relations strategy in support of a surface silver mining operation in Pershing County, Nevada. This role will build and manage a high‑performing community relations team, fostering strong, transparent, and proactive relationships with local stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, tribal entities, community organizations, local government, and residents.
The position plays a key leadership role in ensuring the operation maintains its social license to operate through effective engagement, issue resolution, and alignment with environmental stewardship goals.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities Of The Position Strategic Leadership & Implementation- Develop and implement a long‑term community relations strategy aligned with site operational goals, permitting requirements, and corporate standards.
- Identify key community risks and opportunities, and develop mitigation or engagement plans.
- Establish measurable performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate effectiveness of community engagement efforts.
- Support permitting and regulatory processes through coordinated stakeholder engagement.
- Build, mentor, and lead a community relations team, including specialists and coordinators.
- Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations for team members.
- Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team capability in communications, stakeholder engagement, and conflict resolution.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with:
- Local communities and landowners
- County and municipal officials
- Tribal governments and representatives
- State and federal agencies
- Non‑governmental organizations (NGOs)
- Other key stakeholders as identified
- Serve as a primary point of contact for community concerns, ensuring timely and professional responses.
- Lead public meetings, outreach programs, and community events.
- Design and manage community investment programs, including sponsor ships, donations, and partnerships.
- Support workforce development initiatives and local hiring efforts.
- Coordinate educational outreach and site tours to enhance community understanding of mining operations.
- Oversee development of communication materials, including newsletters, reports, and public disclosures.
