The Spring Valley Gold Project is located in the prolific Humboldt Range, an area with approximately 60 million ounces of gold endowment within a 50-mile radius. Envisioned as a long-life, low-cost open-pit, heap-leach operation, Spring Valley has a robust resource base and considerable exploration upside along a 7-mile strike length across the Black Ridge fault zone.

This position is located on-site at our mine in Lovelock, NV.

Job Description

The Control Room Superintendent is responsible for the effective operation of the control room team, providing support and regular engagement to lead the safe, aligned and high-performance execution of the shift plan.

The role ensures key performance indicators are met by managing crew numbers, allocating resources and maintaining communication with site stakeholders. The Superintendents fosters a strong safety culture, ensures compliance with operational procedures, and facilitates team training and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Command Controller, Command Builder and Maintenance Controller team to deliver safe, aligned, high-performance execution of the shift plan.
  • Facilitate pre-start, mid-shift and closeout shift huddles.
  • Oversee intervention strategy, assignment health and escalation paths across the shift.
  • Review controller decisions for consistency and conformance.
  • Ensure proper logging, logic quality and delay-code accuracy.
  • Drive alignment between the Control Room, Planning and Field teams.
  • Coach the team on a proactive mindset and data-driven execution.
  • Manage crew numbers and allocate resources to meet KPIs and execute the daily mine plan.
  • Maintain communication with site stakeholders and keep the team aligned to production priorities.
  • Foster a strong safety culture, ensure compliance with operational procedures, and facilitate team training and development.
Job Requirements
  • Set and reinforce a strong workplace health and safety culture within control room operations.
  • Comply with and adhere to all company policies, site procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks associated with autonomous haulage and interface activities.
  • Ensure incidents, near misses and safety concerns are reported and escalated promptly.
  • Never authorize a manual override of a safety, position or interlock fault.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; a diploma or degree in mine engineering, robotics or autonomous systems is an asset.
  • 3 or more years in an open-pit mining, control-room, dispatch or centralized operational environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a control room, dispatch or operational-coordination role.
  • Strong understanding of open-pit mining fundamentals and autonomous haulage operations.
  • Experience with fleet-management or operational-control systems such as CAT Mine Star, Modular or similar.
  • Certified competent, or able to be certified, on CAT Mine Star Command for Hauling to the Command Controller standard.
  • Strong decision-making, organizational and priority-setting skills; able to manage competing priorities under pressure.
Preferred
  • Prior autonomous haulage deployment or ramp-up experience (CAT Command or equivalent).
  • Greenfield or new control-room start-up experience.
  • Frontline Management or similar leadership training.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Working Conditions

This role operates on a shift-based schedule, requiring coordination during both day and night shifts.
