Primary Purpose

To support the underground paste crew in the safe and effective operation and maintenance of the paste plant, including care and custody of the plant and associated equipment.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

An employee in this position will operate and maintain the underground paste plant, ensure the proper care and custody of the plant and equipment, and assist with the development of Standard Operating Procedures and training material for the paste crew. An employee must comply with all state and federal health and safety regulations and all company policies and procedures.

Key Competencies

An employee must be able to do the following:

• General maintenance and cleanup of the paste plant facility.
• Operate forklifts, man lifts, and other mobile equipment as needed to clean up or transport material.
• Open and close numerous and various valves located at various levels.
• Perform regular reaching, grasping, lifting, carrying, kneeling, pulling, pushing, and prying maneuvers to use hand tools, carry parts and components, and clean up facilities with shovels and hoses; operate any tools and/or components used in the daily operation and/or maintenance of facilities—weights up to 50 pounds, heights up to chest high, and distances up to 500 feet.
• Frequently walk, stand, or climb for extended periods of time (up to the entire shift) on concrete, ladders and stairs, uneven and/or obstructed ground and on wet or slick surfaces.
• Operate two-way radio and telephone in order to communicate with other mine personnel regarding any problems or requirements necessary to the proper function of the paste plant.
• Wear required protective/safety equipment including safety toe shoes or boots, safety glasses, and hardhat. Wear hearing protection when necessary. Wear additional protective equipment such as rubber suits, rubber boots, rubber gloves, and appropriate face protection when working around chemicals, equipment, and process material. Also wear appropriate fall protection when needed.
• Perform duties under conditions that may be adverse or hazardous, including but not limited to underground environments, noise, moving equipment, moving mechanical parts, and exposure to dusts, gases, liquids, and mists.
• Perform essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat of harm to himself or herself, to others, or to the mine property or equipment.
• Attend and work through scheduled work shifts.

Work Experience

Essential

· Underground experience preferred.

· Process plant operation experience preferred.

· Ability to perform basic maintenance functions preferred.

· Ability to follow schematics preferred.

· Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures required.

· Proven safe work record with belief and value seen in courageous leadership model required.

· Ability to work with minimal supervision required.

· Ability to be an integral, team member in a growing, fast paced environment required.

· Good attendance record required.
