Job Summary
A Downline Operator is responsible for the proper stacking of pallets of finished products, replenishing materials, and cleaning the area, among other tasks. This role requires strenuous lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, standing, and twisting for the entire shift, and working in a warehouse environment with temperature fluctuations of +/- 40 degrees. Individuals must follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and all safety procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Learn, practice, and adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) established for manufacturing.
- Learn, practice, and adhere to all safety and quality policies and procedures.
- Palletize finished goods for storage.
- Staging and organizing packaging materials for downline operations: trays, glue, labels, etc.
- Assist line drivers with operating the cardboard baler machine.
- Dispose of downline waste: cardboard, pallet bands, label webbing rolls, etc.
- Maintain casecoder operation: set/change dates, code placement, cleanliness, install ink cartridges and canisters as needed.
- Clear case and carton jams, handle basic machine faults, and reset lane counts in the tray packer.
- Allocate all packaging materials before, during, and after each production run: trays, labels, etc.
- Load correct materials into the tray packer: trays and glue.
- Change/install label rolls and make minor label delay adjustments as needed.
- Verify all product lot numbers, case codes and SKUs are correct before and during each production run.
- Maintain excellent communication with all departments.
- Assist with cleaning machines before, during, and after each production run to maintain cleanliness and proper operation.
- Maintain detailed documentation, including entering loss time production data into Red Zone.
- Keep a clean, organized, and safe working environment to ensure employee safety, product integrity, and efficiency.
- Perform assigned tasks while wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Work in other areas as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
- Be able to work weekends and/or overtime as business needs require.
- Read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
- Comprehend basic math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, weights and measures, and efficient use of a calculator.
- Knowledge and understanding of basic computer and control systems.
- Ability to communicate both written and orally within the organization.
- Basic knowledge of food processing and food safety.
- Ability to give positive suggestions to improve operations in the work center.
- Team oriented: helpful, respectful, approachable, building strong working relationships, and a positive work environment.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and work well under changing demands.
- Ability to accurately follow verbal and written instructions.

- High school diploma or GED, and/or 2 years of work experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Vision, hearing, and speaking to meet performance standards.
- Stand and/or walk for long periods, push, pull, lift, climb, bend, stoop, squat, twist, and use manual dexterity with production equipment, scales, pallet jacks, drum dollies, mops, brooms, portable stairs, hoses, etc.
- Safely lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis daily and move heavier weights using proper equipment or team‑lifting techniques.
- Work in an environment that may contain odors, dust, moderate level noise, and temperature and ventilation variations while wearing appropriate safety and/or protective clean room apparel as required (e.g., safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, hair net, uniform, face shield).
