Rural Health Development Anti-Hunger VISTA; Lyon

Responsibilities

• Meet with food pantry managers to develop volunteer management, training, and tracking materials.
• Meet with local growers, including community gardens and farmers, to develop additional food source supplies.
• Attend public and community meetings to gather resources and information on needs and gaps.
• Research and create a food security development plan that includes local food growers' resources.
• Create a template to increase local growers.
• Research new funding opportunities and prepare proposals to support integration of community gardens and local farmers into food security systems.
• Work with NyE Communities Coalition and community stakeholders to increase nutrition access, education, and food insecurity awareness within Story and Lyon Counties.
• Develop programs to increase volunteerism and establish new systems for tracking, development, and training within local food pantries.
• Develop a marketing strategy to increase capacity and distribution of healthy foods and raise awareness of food insecurity.
• Create a volunteer management program and materials for food pantries to increase volunteer and distribution capacity.
