Med/Surg Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) (Nights) - Per Diem
The Med‑Surg/ICU Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care and support under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) in both the Medical‑Surgical and Intensive Care Units. The CNA assists with basic patient care tasks, ensures patient comfort, and contributes to a safe and healing environment. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity setting.

The Med‑Surg/ICU Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) serves as a vital member of the nursing team, providing essential care and support to patients in emergency situations. Responsibilities include establishing patient comfort, performing standard skin‑and‑health‑care interventions, and rendering ad‑hoc assistance to registered nursing staff.
Position Requirements- High school graduate or equivalency.
- Completion of a state‑approved Certified Nursing Assistant training program.
- Current license as certified nurse assistant in the State of Nevada required.
- BLS for healthcare providers required.
- Ability to communicate with employees, physicians, patients, and administrative staff in a courteous and professional manner.
- Ability to read and communicate in English; bilingual abilities preferred.
- Previous acute care CNA experience preferred.
- Obtains basic age‑appropriate measures, including vital signs and intake/output volumes; reports abnormalities to an RN.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, feeding, and toileting.
- Assists with specimen collection, nutrition, elimination and pulmonary support.
- Provides basic physical care and comfort measures.
- Assists with thermal application (non‑sterile soaks, simple dressings, perineal care).
- Assists with patient mobility: turning, positioning, transferring, ambulating as needed.
- Assists with positioning and transporting patients for various procedures.
- Ensures patient comfort by assisting with positioning, using pillows, and ensuring proper use of medical equipment such as bed alarms and side rails.
- Monitors and responds to patient call lights; escalates issues to nursing staff when necessary.
- Observes and reports changes in patient condition, behavior, or comfort level to the supervising nurse.
- Assists nursing staff with procedures, including setting up equipment and ensuring a clean, organized environment.
- Transports patients to and from diagnostic tests, procedures, and other units as required.
- Collects patient care data at designated intervals; reports findings to licensed staff.
- Accurately reports relevant patient information to licensed staff.
- Communicates patient‑safety and infection‑control information to RN or nurse manager.
- Ensures all aspects of patient care are documented accurately and completely.
- Performs all responsibilities and duties required by unit as defined in the scope of service.
- Provides care safely and sensitively to patients’ rights.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skill in use of special equipment; operates equipment, ensures proper functioning, and maintains accurate documentation of supply charges.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skill in specific areas of clinical experience as applicable.
Per diem employees are offered work on an as‑needed basis. In lieu of benefits due to per diem status, 15% will be added to the hourly rate. Per diem positions have no guaranteed hours or set schedule; the position fills in for individuals who take unplanned and/or planned time off.
