Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Senior Chemist with our Gold Quarry Assay department. The successful candidate is responsible for the following:
The successful candidate will be responsible for day to day laboratory QA/QC, instrumentation including service and troubleshooting; have a strong chemistry background with the ability to train others and evaluate skills; have a strong working knowledge of computers; work closely with the production supervisors to ensure compliance with procedures for safety and quality analyses. Be able to perform all job functions on shift or be familiar with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and LIMS used in Gold Quarry Assay Lab;
supervise the Junior Chemist and Day Crew hourly technicians. Responsible for assay lab's environmental compliance and quality of analytical work reported; perform entry and approval of Element Time and Labor, Sustainability Affects Competitiveness, work notifications, (SAP) move orders, updating of employee training records, status upgrades, and employee performance reviews; be responsible for controlling area costs to comply with annual budget;
be able to prioritize and re-prioritize a large workload as needed to meet client expectations; be expected to foremost, promote a safe working environment, procedures, and culture; perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
* Responsible for day-to-day laboratory QA/QC, instrumentation including service and troubleshooting
* Must have a strong chemistry background with the ability to train others and evaluate skills
* Strong working knowledge of computers
* Ability to work closely with the production supervisors to ensure compliance with procedures for safety and quality analyses
* Responsible for controlling area costs to comply with annual budget;
* Preform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or related field required
* Minimum 3 years of experience in an Analytical Laboratory/Mining preferred
* Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required
* Knowledge and troubleshooting of analytical instrumentation required
* Supervisory experience required
* Self-motivated and ability to work independently as well as being a team player required
* Demonstrated ability to perform essential function of the position required
