About This PositionThe Assistant Food Service Director works with the Food Service Director to plan activities associated with running a large food service operation with one or more production kitchens. The Assistant Food Service Director is also responsible for supervising a group of food service workers that are involved with the preparation and distribution of food in the kitchen.
You will work onsite inside a jail/correctional facility. You will report to a Food Service Director.

- Responsible for the guidance, training, and management of the facility food service operation.
- You will hire, orient, train and issues corrective action (when applicable) to team members.
- Develop positive connections with clients requires communicating with them.
- Oversee the appropriate quantities of food are prepared and served according to facility or site plan.
- Maintain accuracy of inventory in advance preparation of planned menu schedule.
- Ensure that food items are stored properly.
- Maintain all serving schedules to ensure all food items are served per menu specifications in a safe and appropriate manner according to departmental guidelines.
- Maintain a sanitary environment following food service and Health Department codes and regulations.
- Responsible for any state or other inspection of food service operation.
- Other responsibilities as determined by our needs.
- High School Diploma or GED and/or equivalent experience. Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Two years of management or supervisory experience in a food service position.
- Three years of experience working in food service.
- Serv Safe Certification.
- Must have experience with purchasing, inventory, ordering and receiving.
- Experience managing and applying kitchen sanitation and safety standards and methods.
- Knowledge of basic accounting and mathematical abilities to complete necessary reports.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and with food service management systems.
- We prefer prior institutional food service or restaurant experience.
