Testing Information:
Completed applications will be screened for minimum qualifications. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be invited to schedule their exam. The exam consists of a physical agility assessment, written general aptitude test, and an oral board interview process. The testing process is scheduled as an all-day event. Candidates passing the physical agility test will continue on to the written exam and oral board interview.
Applicants must successfully complete each of the three phases to be eligible for employment.
Primary Objectives:
Performs intermediate work performing a variety of public safety and law enforcement services in patrol, detention, court services, or civil process assignments; performs related tasks as apparent or assigned. This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to random and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Attends, participates in, and successfully completes required training programs, certifications, continuing education, and qualifications in accordance with State standards, legal requirements, department policy, and assigned duties to maintain competency and readiness in law enforcement operations.Provides assistance during medical emergencies, accidents, crime scenes, and other critical incidents by administering appropriate first aid within the scope of training, requesting emergency medical services as needed, maintaining scene safety, and assisting injured, ill, or distressed individuals until relieved by qualified medical personnel.Acts as coroner as defined under NRS 259.020.Crime scene preservation and collection of evidence, which includes evidence identification and proper handling procedures.Uses a county vehicle to perform various tasks related to job duties.Represents the County with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public.Contributes effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives, and activities.Additional Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Detention
Accountability for Inmates – Conducts daily headcounts, periodic cell and pod checks; moves inmates to and from locations for court appearances, medical care, visits, etc.Intake and Release of Inmates – Escorts inmates into the jail by conducting searches, booking questionnaires, fingerprints, photography, access to money and phone.Ensures Safety of Inmates and Staff – Conducts facility and person searches for weapons/drugs/contraband; conduct surveillance, investigations, and reports of crimes committed within the detention facility; monitor activity of inmates; handle inmates with mental health issues and provide intervention to ensure safety.Handle Health and Welfare Issues – Carries out processes to ensure that inmates are provided with adequate food, clothing, medicine, and clean living arrangements;
Conduct inspections of living conditions to ensure compliance with departmental policy and federal law.Report Writing – Composes clear and accurate criminal accident and information reports and other necessary reports and forms.Customer Service - Receives and screens visitors and telephone calls and directs the caller to the proper person or personally handles the call; provides information which requires the…
