Terus Construction, a division of Colas Western Canada Inc., is currently seeking a Summer Student based in Crescent Valley, BC, for a temporary Full-time position. The position will be 40 hours per week with extended hours as required from May to August.
This position offers a dynamic opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in both shop operations and related office tasks. The ideal candidate should possess a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn about the industry, and work according to company and industry safety standards. This role is ideal for students interested in gaining practical experience working with and around mobile construction equipment.
MainResponsibilities
- Shop clean‑up, organizing, and parts running
- Office support including filing, scanning, and general organization tasks
- Shovel, rake, and wheelbarrow work
- Safe operation of hand tools and small compaction equipment
- Other ad hoc duties as required
- Candidate must be 18 years of age.
- Follow safety practices in line with National Safety Code (NSC).
- Demonstrate strong willingness to learn and adhere to DARCI system.
- Compliance with the company’s drug and alcohol policy, including pre‑employment testing.
- Adherence to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Must demonstrate the capability to identify safety hazards.
- Must be an effective communicator and a team player.
- Overtime as required
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
- Must be physically able to work general labour
- Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry 50 LBS as needed
- Use of personal protection equipment is required
- Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements
This is a unionized position with an anticipated wage of $25
CAD per hour. The final compensation package will be determined based on factors including the candidate's job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Must be able to meet all safety requirements including pre‑employment drug/alcohol testing.
